True to Life

There is a striking connection between these the photocollage made by David Hockney and the altarpiece in the St-Bavo Cathedral in Ghent.
The line in the middle dividing the street, but also the fountainhead on the 15th century painting. The exotic trees in the Nordic painting can also be seen on the desert Californian landscape.
David Hockney brings together many perspectives by each time photographing a detail of the total picture, also Jan Van Eyck most probably did this. (see also the post ‘The Key to the work of Kahn’)
